B9XD
The human experience of general purpose humanoid robotics.
The goal of B9XD was to design a robot from hardware to software, focused on human/robot interaction and communication. First, I focus on the experience of choosing and starting a new task through an app interface. Second, I examine the physical robot design through the lens of accessibility and humanity.
Part 1
Starting
taskS
When you open the app, you land in a warehouse environment at the bot's location. On the left is a panel where you can browse and refine bot tasks
Each task is presented as a card with a preview and tags to represent the building blocks of each task. Blocks are added as the AI learns new things, and combined into tasks like these, similar to putting together a playlist.
Users can tap to refine block values in the moment before starting a task.
Additional context is provided to help refine your selection like object identifiers, energy usage and estimated duration.
All set! Now Bo (this bot) will start the task and send you a notification once it’s complete. You can line up other tasks for Bo to begin once this task is done
